Artist Statement
As a graphic design artist, I have a great interest in all aspects of design, but the most interest is in typography style posters. As a high school student, I developed a great interest in the urban typography style and the overall aspect of graphic design. This includes any type of advertisement, packaging, and logos. The concentration of my work so far has been in poster design using typography, choosing random words, and displaying them best I feel. I've work with a wide range of sizes but have focus on the size of 11x17 and 17x11. I enjoy making works that grab the attention of people. I also enjoy the idea of simple is better and try to make designs that are simple yet effective and appealing to the eye. During the process of making my posters it can start a many of ways; for example, sometimes I look up a word and make a piece accordingly, sometimes I just use a word in everyday life and just get inspired to create a piece based on that, and mostly I just have some random idea that just sounds cool and bring it to life. I feel like the concept of my work isn't driven by anything specific but I’m very fond of the geometric and simplistic style of art with a possible splash of abstraction. I enjoy making pieces that either can or cannot represent something. Most of my work doesn’t really have a meaning and in all honesty, I feel you can just make something up and it will be accepted because as the artist you decide most of the aspects of your art.
